   Part 6: Education - Optimistic Closure

This module has explored actions to create a classroom that strives to be antiracist. While there will be times that practice reflects the racism long ingrained in society and socialization, the goal is to improve and move toward antiracist practice. As we make changes in our lives and in our approach to education, we can overcome oppressive systems by building our capacity for engaging in antiracist work.

Consider the points in the document as you reflect on the responses to race.

After you reflect on this fourth module, proceed to the Module 7: Being Antiracist (Taking Action) Resources which presents resources for further learning and inspiration for antiracist work in and out of schools.

This module focused on applying learning from prior modules to developing antiracist practices to improve classrooms and educational systems. Reflect on the information you learned or reviewed. Use the following questions to help you consider what you have learned and what you will do moving forward.

  • What have you learned that has changed your thinking?
  • What have you learned or realized in this process that you would like to celebrate and build on?
  • How could you use what you have learned about racism and antiracism in education to improve your interactions with students?
  • How could you use what you have learned about racism and antiracism to improve your interactions with colleagues?

The next module will provide resources to further your development as an antiracist. You can explore the resources provided and return to them as necessary to gain insight and inspiration for your antiracist journey.
